Choose a prompt
A child writes to a curriculum-based prompt and gets feedback straight away — not a mark out of ten, but the specific things to change and the one to work on next. The Writing Coach covers Years 2 to 10, the same span the graded practice now reaches: the graded maths practice tests run Years 2 to 10, the English ones Years 2 to 10, and the mastery lessons reach Year 10 too.
The writing itself is checked in the browser and is never sent to us or stored. Only the skill scores — numbers — are saved, so the Mastery Map can fill in and show progress over time. Nobody at AceTheirTest can read what your child wrote, because we never receive it.
17 things, each with its own check rather than one overall impression:
spelling, homophones, plurals and suffixes, apostrophes, commas, punctuating dialogue, sentence structure, sentence openers, linking words, consistent tense, subject-verb agreement, prepositions, pronoun reference, vocabulary, paragraphing, shaping a whole text and analytical response.
It is not a human marker, and it does not grade creativity or ideas. It checks the things a checker can genuinely check — the mechanics and the shape of the writing — and it tells you which one to fix first. For the parts that need a person, the tutoring centre marks writing by hand.
