Australian Curriculum · ACARA v9, NSW NESA and Victorian codes

The Australian Curriculum,
for Years 2 to 10. Practice tests: maths and English to Year 10 · the Writing Coach to Year 10 · tutoring Years 7 to 10

Years 2–6 225 graded practice tests · spelling · mastery lessons · the Writing Coach
Years 7–10 60 graded maths practice tests · 60 graded English practice tests · mastery lessons · the Writing Coach · our tutoring centre, in person
All years 236 mastery lessons across Years 2 to 10 — maths and English practice tests both reach Year 10

345 graded tests — Foundation to Extension, written to the Australian Curriculum and calibrated a step above it, so the top tiers stretch a confident child instead of repeating classwork. Fifteen tests per subject, per year level. Every answer is fully explained. And every lesson carries its ACARA v9 code, the matching NSW NESA outcome and — on most weeks — the Victorian equivalent — so you can see exactly what your child covered.

Practice Question
‘She led the class to a shallow touch pool.’ What is the meaning of ‘shallow’ here?
A
Not deep ✓ Correct
B
Very wide
C
Extremely cold
D
Brightly lit
💡 Why B is wrong
‘Very wide’ describes how far across the pool reaches, not how far down. ‘Shallow’ always refers to depth — water that doesn’t go far down. The class is wading safely, so ‘not deep’ is the meaning that fits.

Which word could replace ‘settled’ in ‘they settled on one dollar for a cookie’ without changing the meaning?
A) Decided — Correct ✓
B) Refused — Incorrect
C) Doubted — Incorrect
D) Forgot
💡 Key learning
‘Settled on’ here means reached a decision, so ‘decided’ keeps the meaning. Option B (Refused) is the opposite — it would mean they never agreed on a price at all.

Results in the exam AND the classroom
The Australian Curriculum sets what every child in the country is expected to know, and the competitive exams test the top of it. We build to that standard — so the understanding your child gains goes far wider than any single exam. Better maths, better reading, better thinking — skills that lift performance across every subject at school.

Parents usually ask…

Is this an official NAPLAN, OC or Selective test?

No — AceTheirTest is an independent practice platform, not affiliated with or endorsed by ACARA, NAPLAN or the NSW Department of Education. Our tests are written to the Australian Curriculum, and the top tiers are calibrated above classroom level, so the skills your child builds here carry into NAPLAN, the OC and Selective placement tests, and everyday classwork.

What do I get for free?

Test 1 in every subject at every year level — with every answer fully explained — plus the first 5 levels of all three games (Word Rush, Maths Sprint and Times Table). No credit card and no account needed to try it.

How many children can use one account?

The Single Child plan covers one student. The Family plan covers up to 3 child profiles under one parent login — each child keeps their own test results, game progress, stars and leaderboard nickname, and the parent area is protected by a PIN.

Are the game leaderboards safe for kids?

Yes — they're opt-in and privacy-first. A child only appears after a parent switches it on, and they're shown as an auto-generated nickname (like "SwiftFox42") with a game avatar — never a real name, photo or email. There is no chat anywhere, and turning the leaderboard off removes the child's entries immediately.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel in two clicks from your account page — you'll keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and there are no lock-ins or cancellation fees.
