Free skills check
Where is your child
in Maths and English?
20 questions, about 20 minutes. Easy ones first, harder ones later. At the end you get a free report on screen: which levels your child is secure at, which test to start at, and what to practise next. No account, no card — and you can have the report emailed to you if you like.
Start the check
Choose your child's school year this year, and the subject.
School year SubjectPick a year to begin. Kindergarten and Year 1 don't need a check — every test is free with an account.
The questions come from five points on our 15-test ladder for that year, from the basics to a step above year level.
You see which levels are secure, where it got hard, and the topics worth practising next — on screen straight away, and by email if you ask for it.
Afterwards, go through the explanations together. That five minutes is where most of the learning happens.
Is it a real assessment?
It's a starting point, not a school report. Twenty questions can show you roughly where your child sits and where to begin. They can't replace your child's teacher, and we don't pretend otherwise.
What is it based on?
The Australian Curriculum (ACARA v9), the same curriculum Australian schools teach. The hardest level is pitched a little above year level on purpose.
Should my child do it alone?
Yes, and without help, so the result is honest. Sit with them afterwards for the explanations.
Who made it?
A Sydney dad of three who teaches his own children at home, instead of paying a tutor. I built AceTheirTest for my own children first. Read how the questions are made and checked →
